Thailand Diaries: Krabi Kronicles

Woke up bright and early around 6 AM, the soft patter of raindrops outside my window setting a cozy, sleepy mood. A few gentle drizzles teased the morning before the skies opened up in a quick, refreshing shower that lasted about five minutes—perfect for waking us up without ruining the day.

🍳 Breakfast Feast to Fuel the Adventure

Breakfast was nothing short of a delicious buffet of comfort and flavour.I indulged in a fluffy omelette packed with mushrooms and melted cheese, folded between slices of warm bread to make the ultimate cheesy sandwich. To finish on a sweet note, there were golden pancakes dripping with butter and a generous smear of strawberry jam that instantly made me smile.Mom went all out with a colourful plate: steamed rice, buttery paneer masala, a veggie-stuffed omelette loaded with onions, mushrooms, cheese, and bell peppers, fresh salad with cooling yogurt, tender chicken shawarma slices, and mushrooms swimming in rich butter sauce. Her orange juice sparkled in the morning light, paired with an espresso—though sadly, not quite warm enough to be satisfying.Dad’s breakfast was hearty and comforting: creamy mushrooms in butter sauce, an omelette with all the works, fluffy rotis slathered with butter, toast, and all the little extras that make mornings feel like a celebration.

☔ Raincoats Ready, Spirits High

After a quick freshen-up and packing, we ventured out, ready to face whatever the day had in store. Our first stop was the ever-reliable 7/11, where we picked up raincoats in sunny yellow, soft green, and gentle lavender—because style doesn’t stop for rain—and grabbed a local SIM card to stay connected. The money exchange shops were mysteriously closed, probably still waking up from their tropical dreams, so we headed back to the hotel lobby to wait.

🚤 Speedboat Dreams: Four Islands, One Epic Day

At Ao Nang Pier, our small group of seven gathered to pay for the 4-island speedboat tour—a promise of turquoise waters, powder-soft beaches, and island magic. We passed the time snapping photos, soaking in the salty breeze, and getting a rundown from our cheerful guide Coke of Ao Nang 186.

During the ride, I made a new friend—a girl from a family of four, with her mom, dad, and younger brother. We bonded over the bumpy waves, laughs, and shared excitement for the islands ahead.

The boat ride was a wild rollercoaster on water—the driver expertly sending us bouncing and bobbing over waves like we were on a thrilling amusement park ride. Screams, laughter, and some tears (mostly from the splashy surprise) filled the air.

🏝️ Island Hopping Bliss

  • Phra Nang Cave & Beach greeted us first with its stunning limestone cliffs and crystal-clear waters. We soaked up every moment, snapping countless pictures and wandering the soft sandy shore for nearly an hour.

  • At Tub Island & Moh Island, the tide played tricks, leaving pockets of white sand traps where our feet and shoes happily sank into the sugary softness—nature’s own foot massage!

  • Next was Chicken Island, named after a towering rock formation shaped like a chicken’s head. It was the perfect backdrop for some of our group to jump into the water for a snorkeling adventure, discovering vibrant marine life beneath the waves.

  • Our final stop, Poda Island, felt like paradise itself. The powdery sand, turquoise waters, and warm sun made it nearly impossible to leave.

Lunch was served here—a simple yet satisfying spread of fluffy rice, crisp lettuce leaves, delicate vermicelli stir-fried with veggies and egg, and a fragrant curry with fish. Dad polished off everything but the rice, Mom nibbled on the sweet vermicelli, and I watched, savoring the sights and sounds instead.

🩴 Slippers Lost & Seashell Bruises Gained

The journey back was a splashy one. My slippers had a moment of rebellion, floating off without me, and my feet earned battle scars from countless hidden shells. But hey, every bruise tells a story, right?

🛻 Homebound & Dinner Delights

We returned to town in a pickup truck with new companions and exchanged our balances with the driver. Hunger drove us to Dosa Kitchen, where I dove into a crispy gobi paratha, Mom enjoyed a classic plain dosa, and Dad chose a mixed vegetable dosa—comfort food to round off a hectic day.

🌙 Night Market Wanderlust & Sweet Treats

After freshening up at the hotel, we stretched our legs with a walk to the lively Ao Nang Night Market. We soaked in the vibrant sights and sounds without splurging too much, but I couldn’t resist treating myself to a soft, stretchy Nutella mochi—a chewy little bundle of pure happiness—and a chocolate almond ice cream roll topped with unlimited goodies. The show was fun, the portion a tease, but the flavors unforgettable.

💇‍♀️ Frizz Fights & Foot Rubs

Humidity had turned our hair into wild frizzy clouds, so Mom and I popped into NAPHATX salon for a quick wash and tame. Then, with tired feet begging for mercy, we squeezed into Toya Massage Center for a heavenly 45-minute foot massage that melted away the day’s aches.

🍽️ Tandoori Finale

Dinner was at Tandoori Delights, where we started with a spicy, smoky Chicken Tikka Black Pepper appetizer, followed by rich chicken tikka masala, warm butter naan, soft rotis, and buttery roti rounds. I skipped the lemon soda because of braces, but it still felt like a feast fit for royalty.

Day 2 in the Thailand Diaries was a perfect blend of adventure and indulgence.
